Exam Center - DELF/DALF

The DELF/DALF (Diplôme d’études en langue française/Diplôme approfondi de langue française) are official certifications awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify French language competency for non-native French speakers.

These certifications are equivalent to a university diploma and are valid for life.

If you consider living, studying, being an au pair, doing an internship or working in France, you will very likely be asked at some point, to have a DELF/DALF certification. It can also be useful for college application or job application in the USA to show a level of fluency in French.

There is a certification for every level of Common European Framework of Reference of Languages (CEFR). DELF is for levels A1, A2, B1, B2. DALF is for C1 and C2 levels.

The Alliance Française of Charlottesville offers the DELF/DALF:

  • for adults (DELF/DALF tout public),

  • for adults with a specific professional goal (DELF pro - A1 to B2 level only)

  • children and teens ages 12-17 (DELF Junior)

  • children ages 8-12 (DELF prim)

Exams for each level includes a written (listenning, reading, writting) as well as an oral evaluation (on a one to one basis with an exterminator). Both written and oral examinations take place at the Alliance Française de Charlottesville (700 Harris St, Charlottesville, VA, 22902)

The certification cost depend on the level:

A1.1: $110 / A1: $120 / A2: $130 / B1: $140 / B2: $170 / C1: $220 / C2: $220

Exam Fee is due to confirm registration. Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERRABLE to a future session.  Late arrivals will not be allowed to take the exam, no exceptions.  Though very exceptional, the AFC reserves the right to cancel exams under extenuating circumstances and refund exam fees.
